Pastor Art, his wife Jen and their three boys, Jacob, Joshua and Andrew moved to Scarborough in July of 2013 to accept the pastorate at Royal Ridge Church of God. Pastor Art has been a credentialed minister in the Church of God, Cleveland, TN since 1996. He has previously served as youth and assistant pastor at Christian Ridge Church of God, in Ellsworth, ME (1995-1996) and Faith Temple Church of God, in Belfast, ME (1996-2001). He has been the Sr. Pastor at Unionville Church of God, in Steuben, ME (2001-2008), as well as Manchester Church of God in Manchester, NH (2008-2013).
Pastor Art and Sis. Jen are lifelong New Englanders. He was born and raised in Prospect, ME. Sis. Jen is originally from Swanville, ME. They met as teenagers at Faith Temple Church of God. They were married in December of 1995. They have a passion for New England, and feel that God has called them and equipped to lead the Royal Ridge congregation at this time.
Art holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Colby College (1995) and Jen has a B.S.N. from Husson College (1998). Jen presently is employed at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland, ME as a per diem R.N. Art is also the Youth and Discipleship Director for the Church of God in Northern New England (Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont).
The couple's three boys are of primary importance in their lives. All three are students in the Scarborough School District. They are actively involved in athletics and other extracurricular activities. All three boys have an active role in their parents' ministry as well. They are involved with the youth group and children's ministries, as well as "volunteering" for numerous odd jobs around the facilities.
With all of these "other" responsibilities, this couple has a heart to pastor. They love God and they love people. This attitude has served them well in the pastorate. Pastor Art often says people will not believe that you care until they see that you care. Building relationships (with God first, and then with your brothers and sisters in Christ) is at the core of their ministry. Healthy relationships will lead to a healthy church. One way that we emphasis the importance of building a relationship with our Heavenly Father is through discipleship. We emphasize church relationships through times of organized and spontaneous fellowship. Pastor and Jen also feel evangelism is vital to building a healthy church. Once again, Pastor Art emphasizes relationship evangelism. Another important component to a healthy ministry is missions (both local and global). A church that wants to have the favor of God on their ministry needs to be missions minded. There are many other things going on here at Royal Ridge Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Art and Jen Fairbrother; we invite you to stop by for a visit and experience them yourself.
Pastor Art, Sis. Jen and the boys are trusting God for many years of fruitful harvest here in the Southern Maine Area.
